How clan loyalties shape the nine Act 1 heroes

Factions and Allies Guide

Statera is not a monolithic kingdom. Quickfire Games built more than twenty factions for the full release, but Act 1 already introduces the alliances that matter to Soren’s rebellion. Three clans anchor the playable roster in Early Access: the Blue Nets, Keepers of the Veil, and Van Rigmars. Understanding their culture, leaders, and combat roles helps you predict recruitment paths, dialogue tone, and which hero builds complement each other.

This guide maps those factions to their Act 1 representatives, links to individual hero pages, and explains how faction fantasy translates into grid tactics. For enemy groups like the Ashen Crusade, see Factions and Enemies.

The Blue Nets — coastal defenders

The Blue Nets protect Statera’s southern coastline and shipping lanes under Duocco, Soren’s father-in-law. They are pragmatic warriors who value discipline at the wall and ruthless efficiency against bandits. In Act 1, four recruitable heroes carry Blue Net ties:

  • Tammais — frontline bruiser and taunt tank who grows stronger as he absorbs punishment
  • Maya — hunter with owl companion, blinds, and wide cone attacks for crowd control
  • Urza — shaman support with cleansing and protective magic for sustained fights
  • Rufio — axe fighter who slices lines and grapples enemies into kill zones

Blue Net squads excel at holding choke points while Maya and Rufio reshape enemy positions. In squad compositions, they form the backbone of the balanced Act 1 template alongside Soren and Tizon.

Duocco’s political weight pulls Soren back into war after the forge attack. Side quests tied to Blue Net supply lines unlock crafting materials—coordinate with World Missions when farming for Citadel upgrades.

Keepers of the Veil — Lords of Death

The Keepers of the Veil are among Statera’s oldest clans, nicknamed Lords of Death for guarding the veil between realms. Their mystics commune with powers other factions fear. Sade represents them in Act 1—a silent warrior who drops a golden cross onto the battlefield and controls zones through divine companions.

Sade’s kit defines area denial and support hybrid play. She pairs with Tammais taunts to force enemies into cross zones, or with Soren bleed setups to punish units that cannot escape her locked tiles. Build paths are covered in Support and Control builds.

Keepers lore foreshadows the Dark Pain tearing reality—choices that affect veil stability may gate recruits in later acts. Act 1 still teaches their tone: ritualistic, severe, and unwilling to compromise with the Ashen Crusade.

Van Rigmars — blood crystal masters

Van Rigmars dominate western Statera and monopolize blood crystal extraction—the only clan that can reliably master the relics’ volatile magic. Gala fights for them in Act 1 with musket, whip, and explosive barrels she can detonate without self-harm.

Gala enables burst damage and environmental clears. Place barrels where enemies must pass, then detonate during Maya knockback setups or Soren flank turns. Her hero guide details immunity rules; misuse still wastes battle points if enemies path around crystals.

Van Rigmars politics are transactional. Expect narrative friction with Blue Net pragmatism and Keeper mysticism—dialogue choices during Act 1 missions hint at larger alliance tests when Act 2 expands faction count.

Heroes outside the three clans

Act 1 also fields core rebels not tied to those trailers:

  • Soren — Blue Net family by marriage, protagonist blacksmith-turned-commander
  • Tizon — Soren’s son, traps, turrets, and flexible damage or support builds
  • Rayder — narrative-critical fighter with last-stand mechanics in key missions

These characters glue factions together in your five-hero squads. You cannot field an all–Blue Net lineup every mission—story battles mandate Rayder or restrict bench slots.

Faction synergy on the grid

Faction identity is not a mechanical tag in Early Access, but kits align with clan fantasy:

Blue NetsFrontline hold + controlUrza sustain, Maya AoE
KeepersZone lock + anti-flankTammais taunt, Sade cross
Van RigmarsBurst + terrain trapsGala barrels, Soren finishers

Use the Squad Planner to verify you cover tank, control, and burst before accepting World Missions tied to a specific faction’s territory.

Future factions at 1.0

Quickfire promises twenty-plus factions and seventy enemy types at full release. Act 1 focuses on allies; later acts introduce hostile clans, neutral traders, and Crusade auxiliary forces that reshape Statera map travel.

The Launch Roadmap tracks hero waves—Verdun, Hagias, Corzo, and others—not every faction will arrive with a matching hero immediately, but lore posts and trailers will preview them before recruitment goes live.

Official media and updates

Quickfire showcased faction synergies during the Second Wind Showcase and pre-launch press beats. Follow Steam news and the Updates hub for trailers when new clans become playable or hostile.

If a mission references a faction you do not recognize, check Factions and Enemies for hostile orders and Recruit All Heroes so optional companions are not missed behind dialogue gates.
